Describe the appearance without naming a failed part

Tell the provider whether the mark is dark, pale, localized or spread across the glass, and whether it appeared suddenly. Do not infer a diagnosis from the color alone. A manufacturer may describe different maintenance conditions for a particular appliance; that does not establish which condition is present in yours.

Do not change the internal arrangement

Avoid moving logs or decorative media, adjusting an air shutter, dismantling the burner or operating the appliance with glass removed. Model-specific component placement and service requirements belong with the appropriate instructions and professional assessment. A clean-looking view is not evidence that an unexplained operating concern has been corrected.

Preserve useful history before cleaning

Record whether the mark appeared after service, a fuel-related change or an extended gap in use. Save an existing photograph if one shows the earlier condition. If the appearance is new or unexplained, leave the appliance off and ask whether cleaning should wait until the condition has been reviewed.

Clarify the scope of the next visit

Ask whether the request is being booked as routine glass care or investigation of a changed condition. If a glass component is damaged, mention that separately. The appropriate remedy should follow the findings; a generic cleaner or replacement panel is not a diagnosis.
