There is no universal mounting height

Fireplace heat-management arrangements differ by model. A layout allowed for one appliance should not be copied to another. The television also has its own operating and installation limits. Ask the people planning the project to identify both sets of requirements before agreeing the screen position.

Treat mantel and finish choices as part of the layout

Changing a mantel depth, surrounding finish or wall projection can change the design questions. Share the complete proposed arrangement rather than reviewing the fireplace and television separately. The existing fireplace must still be identified before a new finish is approved around it.

Preserve access and required openings

Ask how the fireplace can be maintained after the screen, cabinetry and finish materials are installed. Do not hide required openings or assume an access panel can be permanently covered. Cable routing and wall work should be coordinated with the relevant project professionals, with fireplace requirements established first.

Use a simple pre-purchase brief

Gather the fireplace model, proposed television model and a sketch of the planned wall. Include any proposed mantel or shelving change. Boca Chimney Group’s remodel-planning service can help frame the fireplace questions before the final aesthetic decisions become expensive to reverse.
