Use the reference point in the manual

Some drawings measure from the fireplace opening, others from a specified appliance edge. The Cerona manual, for example, provides a mantel and wall projection section. A dimension copied from another fireplace or taken off a picture has no reliable reference point. Write the model and drawing reference on the cabinet plan.

Include items that move

Show the cabinet face with the door closed and swung open. Add trim returns, hardware and any shelf that projects toward the heat source. Give the cabinetmaker and appliance professional the same plan and section so that each is reviewing the same finished shape.

Protect the future service path

Even a cabinet outside a restricted zone may make it difficult to lift a decorative front off its hooks or reach a service panel. Ask which direction parts move and what needs to be protected if servicing is required. Resolve any interference before ordering cabinet boxes tied together with a continuous countertop.
