Bring the model before the measurements

Use a manual cover, original purchase record or safely accessible label. A photo showing the surrounding trim as well as the glass tells us more than a close-up of the crack. On a sealed gas appliance the manufacturer may specify a complete glass assembly, with a frame and gasket, rather than a cut sheet.

A comparison to make before ordering

Two estimates can both say “replace fireplace glass.” One might price a door leaf for a decorative enclosure; another might price a complete manufacturer assembly for a sealed gas fireplace. The difference is not just the material in the center. Ask the provider to identify how the assembly attaches, whether a specific frame and seal are supplied together, which safety barrier goes back in front and what checks belong after fitting. A decorative outer door cannot substitute for the appliance's required sealed front.

Prepare an entry plan around the actual part

A sealed assembly needs enough room to remove the existing front and carry the new one through the unit without striking furniture or stone. If there is a lift reservation or service-entrance rule at your particular building, confirm the usable time window with the manager before the part arrives. Ask the provider which clearance needs to be available beside and in front of the cold fireplace. Leave fragile trim and a stuck frame in place for assessment.

When the job grows beyond glass

Highland Beach's Building Department lists its own customer portal separately from the Gulf Stream portal. If opening the finish changes a simple part replacement into construction work, identify the correct property and review path with the department. Keep any building approval and the appliance part authorization as two separate written items.

Agree on the cosmetic limits

Have the estimate name any scratched decorative frame separately from the damaged sealed assembly. Before ordering replacement trim, ask whether the existing trim can be retained and whether its finish is still available. An accepted functional replacement does not settle whether two differently aged decorative finishes will match.

Check the finished front at handoff

Before the work is closed, ask which glass, frame or barrier was fitted and who checked its installed position. If the appliance has another unresolved fault, keep its operating status separate from the fact the cracked assembly was replaced. Save the exact part number with the original manual.
