Draw the two rooms on the same sheet

On each side mark the viewing panel, vents, trim and any part that opens or lifts away. Show the nearest furniture, drapes, shelving and passageway. A dining chair pulled out from the table can occupy space that looks empty in a floor plan. Include the furniture in its normal position as well as its tucked-away position.

Confirm which environments the unit can face

Two viewing panels do not automatically make an appliance suitable as a link between the house and a patio. For example, the Heat & Glo Gateway manual explicitly limits that see-through model to indoor applications. Compare the complete model designation with the installation manual before moving a wall, enclosing one face or exposing it to weather.

Keep the service side workable

Ask where the appliance is accessed, what requires removal, and what space the installer needs on either side. Have the contractor review both elevations before finish carpentry, especially if stone or built-ins will approach the opening. If a later design hides one of the panels, pause and ask the manufacturer whether that exact configuration is permitted.
