Give every opening a name
Use the fireplace manual to distinguish a warm-air outlet, a movable louver, a removable front and a decorative recess. Take a picture straight on, with the unit cold and off. A designer can then mark which spaces must remain clear instead of treating every dark band as an unwanted border.
Check the edge in three dimensions
A thin tile drawn flush on paper becomes thicker after its backing, mortar and edge trim are added. Ask for a side detail showing where that assembly stops. One Hearth & Home manual specifically calls out airflow, louver operation, decorative fronts and access. Apply the manual for the actual appliance to the drawing.
Have the trades review the same detail
A tile installer may leave the visible slots open while trapping the removable frame underneath. Before materials are cut, ask the appliance professional to confirm the front's removal path and record the relevant manual page on the finish drawing. If completed tile already obstructs a required opening, keep the appliance off while it is assessed.
