Photograph the entire front while it is cold

A straight-on view shows the outline of the appliance and the surrounding finish. A second room-level view can show a corner pulled away from the frame or an edge captive behind stone. Use pictures of the front in place. Removing a bent barrier to photograph a latch can make it harder to tell how it originally sat.

Identify what the manufacturer actually supplies

The screen may form part of a complete decorative barrier front. A part number for the glass assembly may identify something else entirely. Ask whether the proposed part includes the frame, whether hardware is supplied and how the provider will verify fit on the installed model and series. A model name without its size or suffix can lead to the wrong front.

Keep the required screen and the room plan distinct

A freestanding guard can help manage space around a fireplace, especially where children visit. It does not replace the appliance's specified barrier. The glass and surrounding materials can remain hot after shutdown. If you redesign the hearth or add furniture while waiting for a part, keep the path for servicing and the appliance's required clear space available.
