Mark the motion where the trouble begins

Describe what happened during ordinary use before the door became unsafe to move. Did an edge first touch the hearth, did a pair of leaves sag together, or did the whole frame move relative to the opening? Record the behavior without reproducing it. A wide photograph of the cold, stationary front shows the frame and neighboring masonry together, while a close-up of an intact glass corner alone may hide the problem.

Find the door manufacturer as well as the fireplace

Aftermarket masonry doors and a listed factory-built fireplace front may have different identification. The door invoice, installation sheet or an accessible label can help. Ask which pivot, guide, hinge or frame component the provider is actually proposing to replace. Hardware with a similar shape may be intended for a different load, panel thickness or attaching method.

Decide whether the frame remains a suitable reference

If the metal surround is distorted, a new guide may not correct the underlying alignment. If masonry around its attachment has moved, the repair can involve more than door service. Ask for the door hardware issue, any mounting problem and any masonry referral as separate findings. Get operating instructions for the corrected assembly and leave any cracked or loose panel out of service pending resolution.
